Homemade Laundry Detergent/Caring For Clothes/Keeping Them Clean

If you guys read my tweets and watch the YT videos regularly (Youtube Click Here  Twitter click Here)  then you KNOW how particular I am about my clothes and laundry! Picky Picky, I need to wash everything after I wear it, if it touches the floor then its dirty, my clothes ONLY dry in the dryer or on hangers in the laundry room, its kinda like my 2x daily shower. EXCESSIVE. (The showering and laundry is actually becoming a real problem, but I don't feel clean otherwise! Somebody help me!!!)

Knowing how to do your laundry properly is so vital to the longevity of your garnets. Be sure to read the tags, use the proper detergents/temp settings, and always always always separate your lights, darks, and colors.

Either way, I thought I would share with you my 'recipe' for "homemade laundry detergent" that gets my clothes clean WITHOUT the nasty chemicals additives and fragrances in detergents! I honestly don't feel clean with detergents. This 'recipe' is a great economical and super clean natural way to get your clothes looking, smellin, and feelin new!

Also, there are some tips on how you can do your laundry better :)

I usually adjust the amounts of each ingredient depending on the load, but heres the basics and why I love them!

Before preparing detergent, I do usually use a spot cleaner. I use Shout, and so far it is the ONLY one I will use, or feel clean in. It cleans out stains, and the occasional deoderant/sweatmarks.

Baking soda! I love this stuff!!! Too much will make your jeans a tad bit stiff, but using 1/4 cup or less for 1 large load is always perfect! Its the best way to remove odors, get clean, and look new!

Vinegar: Be careful with certain fabrics here, but about 1/4-1/8th cup of vinegar is great on super tough smells, and really helps loosen up gunk in the fabrics. Do be careful with delicate material, like silks, cashmeres, or even those shirts/pants with fun embellishments. I don't add the vinegar every time, but when something needs a deep cleaning I do!

Lemon Juice: This is another cautious favorite! Do be careful, because lemon can lighten, but this is my perfect bleach booster. I do NOT use it with bleach, but whenever I do a load of whites I ALWAYS add between a 1/4 and 1/2 cup in. Its a nice booster to brighten things up, and smells great! It will not bleach completely, but will happen make those whites just a tad it brighter. I add it in small amounts for cleanliness to large loads (about 1/4 to 1/8th cup in a large load) but avoid washing special pieces, or anything you don't want to lighten! (No Darks!)

The BEST natural fabric softener I've ever used is Organic Hair Conditioner ( I like Abba's Gardenia, or anything else from Whole Foods really). As long as it's all natural it will do the trick! It's not a replacement for a fabric softener ( I don't use reg. fab. softener anyways) but its a greet way to boost the softness none the less! Just about 1/4 (give an additional 1/8th cup if you prefer) for a full load and you're good to go!

Sometimes I only add one in, sometimes I add them all in together. I really play with what my load needs and try to tailor the amounts.

Also keep in Mind water TEMP. Hot Water will clean best, but can cause colored fabrics to bleed and certain materials to shrink! For those clothes that are just a tad big, hot water can do the trick.

Be sure to wash darks and jeans in cold water. It preserves the colors and elasticity!

If you have a new garment, the first time you wash it it should be done separately! That way if it bleeds theres no danger, and many fabrics bleed on the first wash. Additionally, always wash whites together, darks together, and like colors!

What do you guys use for your laundry? Detergents? Temps? Tips? WHat works and what doesn't?

Makeup For Your Age: Mature

Makeup For Your Age: Work
Many people ask me whats right for school, work etc, and whats right for their age. I'm creating three posts, for middle school, high school, college work, and mature skin to help each and every one of you out, no metter what your demographic!

If you've got mature skin, you may not want to rock the same techniques others like! This post will address the main issues, and help you look flawless no matter what your worries are!

Foundation seeping into Fine Lines/Wrinkles in skin can be so annoying! Try using powders without shimmer, so they dont settle in lines or wrinkles. Be sure to use a foundation that blends smoothly, and a very natural face primer to hold everything in place! I have heard that dewy foundations work best on mature skin for a natural look, matte can look completely plastic, but do what looks best on your skin! These videos may help you :)

"Feathering" and "Bleeding" can be extremely frustrating when you want to rock a bright color on your lips, not the rest of your face! My biggest tip for this would be to outline your lips with a thick concealer, and then fill in your lips with the color of your choice. This concealer on the outside will fill those featherlines, and keep your lipstick in place!

Fill In Those Eyebrows!! There is no better way to brighten up your face than shaping or fillin in your brows, and applying some mascara! It is an everyday must, and completely opens up your eyes!

Dont forget to treat those fine lines, wrinkles, and under eye bags! getting rid of them is the best way to look flawless. This is a masque i love for my acne, but it is all natural, and great for wrinkles, exima, rosacia, puffy skin, and tightens and adds radiance!

Last but not least, PLEASE make sure you get a good night's rest!!! rest is SO IMPORTANT for your beauty, to heal your skin, and make YOU look awake! Here are my tips for getting to sleep :)

Makeup For Your Age: Work

Many people ask me whats right for school, work etc, and whats right for their age. I'm creating three posts, for middle school, high school, college work, and mature skin to help each and every one of you out, no metter what your demographic!

Business Professional, Secretary or Assistant:
If you're the put together and professional daily type, be sure to wear makeup that accents you features! Bring out the natural color of your eyes, and stick to neutrals unless todays the day you want to make a statement. Avoid overdoing any part of your face- try to look natural, and dont forget to shape your brows and apply mascara! Dont go overboard on foundation, but cover any problem areas with light concealer and perhaps powder. A very light coverage and dewy foundation would be maybelline's Fit Me. You may want to look into it!

Retail/Customer Service/Cashier

If you're in retail, be sure to let your creativity show and have some fun! You can go gorgeous and natural, but why not try a fun winged liner, pop of bright color, or pouty lip every now and then? Vary everything up a bit and try utilizing your favorites the way nobody else does!

Teacher/Working With Kids/Nurses/Mommy!!!!

If your working with kids you probably dont have a ton of time for makeup, and even if you did kids may wipe it off, you may sweat it off, cherieos might get caught in your eyelashes the possibilities are endless! I'd recommend something quick and simple for you, back to the basics, with a fun pop of color every now and then to match what you've got on. Be sure that its children appropriate, and that there wont be an issue sporting it throughout the entire day!

If youre working in a restaurant, they probably expect you to wear black, white, or both. For this line of work, its best to play up what you've got subtly, enhancing your natural beauty without too much drama. Try sticking with neutral colors, but feel free to play wiht shapes, like a kitten winged liner. If you NEED color, try just a op of liner, or a brighter color gloss over a nude lip!

If you're working as an Accountant it's best to stay professional as well. Accentuate your features, and dont be afraid of color or craze, just dont go overboard! keep it classy, and remember one thing at a time, focusing on neutrals with maybe a bit of extras!

Makeup For Your Age: College

Many people ask me whats right for school, work etc, and wahts right for their age. I'm creating three posts, for middle school, high school, college work, and mature skin to help each and every one of you out, no metter what your demographic!

College really depends on the time you have, because as a college student you should be pretty familiar with every kind of basic makeup product out there! Its time to mix and match, and use what works for your busy study schedule!

If you are involved with a schdule that leaves you no time in the morning, I'd say slap on minimal! If you can get away with nothing go for it, but if not, be sure to shape your brows (you dont even need to fill tehm in!) and apply mascara, both open up your eyes! Perhaps some light light light face makeup, and a touch of gloss.

here are min barely there and 5 min makeup tutorials that I think would help!

If you're lucky and get to wake at a semi decent hour, you will probably have a bit more time to get up and ready! You can do neutral eye shadow, but be sure to add something thats personal to you- a trademark bright lid color, winged eyeliner, pop of color eyeliner, lip flush, just dont overdo anything!

If you are in class around lunchtime, you can prettymuch do what your heart desires! be sure to use your trademark looks, and something that not too overdone, just casual and fun, perhaps even a Celebrity Inspired Look!

If you are goin out for the night, be sure to use what you can, and live a bit on the edge! Its night, so you can get away with MUCH more (almost anything goes!), and really excersize creativity here!

If you do have bad acne (like I do) you may want to try a full coverage foundation for special events, and then use a good-skin-care-routine for all other days, with minimal face makeup. Try to fix it, dont let it get worse!

Makeup For Your Age: High School

Many people ask me whats right for school, work etc, and wahts right for their age. I'm creating three posts, for middle school, high school, college work, and mature skin to help each and every one of you out, no metter what your demographic!

For those Froshies in the 9th, be sure to use your tips from middle-school and build on! At this time, it may be fun to play around with some eye liner, just please use caution! Try just your upper wetline, or a bit of liquid liner. You may also want to add concealer under eyes or under your natural foundation, and perhaps just a light touch of blush.

As Sophmore year rolls around, you should again take your Frosh year look and vamp it up. Adding a little bit of color here could be fun, and you may want to try a really dewy sheer foundation if your skin is getting those stress-related pustuals! You should use your regular neutral eyeshadows, but maybe use a pop of colored liner, or a brighter color, ONLY on your lid. use neutrals everywhere else, but use som sparkle and shine on the lid, never outide of the crease!

Junior Year and ehre it is! For junior year, you could probably start adding in more colors, to match what your wearing and really oen up your face. You may need concealer under your foundation, and can experiment with varied blushes. You could try some winged eyeliner at this time, and maybe even a lipstick color close to your natural.

As a Senior, you can do just about what you like. here you should experiment with contouring and highlighting, and really get fun and creative with whatever else you are feeling! Be sure to practice practice practice, and have fun :) I was teased in school (video below) for the colors, but i rocked what I wanted to! I encourage you to be yourself and do the same!

Makeup For Your Age: Middle School

Many people ask me whats right for school, work etc, and wahts right for their age. I'm creating three posts, for middle school, high school, college work, and mature skin to help each and every one of you out, no metter what your demographic!

Middle School is generally when students start wearing makeup. First and formost, I'd say to shape your brows! dont fill them in, and you dont have to tweeze (if you do have a mom, older sis, or pro do it) but make sure you shape them! comb them into place, it makes you look so poised! Also, you can start with mascara. Just a light brown on your uper lashes, that really opens up your eyes! thats really all you should need for your first year of middle school to look gorgeous, but as time goes on you can start adding some other touches.

Once you've mastered the 6th grade tips, you can turn them into a 7th grade fabulous faced look. Using the same two tips above, you can start by adding a lip gloss. Try something in sheer colors, I really like victorias secret and bath and body works. You can also lightly fill in those brows with a color similar to yours IF YOU NEED IT, but make sure you practice! You should also be getting your eyebrows tweezed or waxed by a mom, friend or pro to avoid any unibrow :)

8th grade is that last year, where you've almost transitioned. Along with your daily musts, id say add light, neutral toned eyeshadows, maybe some light colored lip gloss as opposed to sheer, and if you NEED it, a facial product. Dont use face makeup unless you reallllyyy need it, but if you do, make sure you EMBRACE YOUR NATURAL BEAUTY! Here is how I do it!

1. Sunscreen and moisturizer are SO essential! make sure you apply that first to get your powder to stcik.
2. You can also do a moisture or acne face primer!
3.Once your face is ready, you can add a fine powder with a big brush to stick the powder to the wet base, creating the look of flawless natural skin with benefits for you, adn stil showing your beauty!

heres a video on how to do it:

I really hope this helps you, and if you arein highschool, college, working, or have mature skin, be sure to head back to the blog for posts for YOUR skin!

My Favorite Indian Foods :)

So today on TWITTER ( I posted about eating barfi with my Punjabijatt. Previously, I posted about chai, bindi, etc.

I get SO MANY QUESTIONS asking about what they are, etc etc so TODAY im sharing with you some of my FAVORITE indian food out there!!!!

My punjabi Honey Bunny introduced me to indian food (primairly) and ever since I've been obsessed! I AM going DAIRY FREE FOR ACNE To see if i can clear up my skin, so some of the recipies (LIEK CHAI) may be a bit different! Here are the videos, and then the foods!

CHAI! Chai is amazing!!!! I usually make it by boiling 1/4 cup water, adding "chai tea" or another good spicy tea, and then adding 1 cup whole milk ( NOW cocanut milk, or almond milk), letting it boil and adding sweetener. MMMMM!!!!

I LOVE BHIBNDI! Binda is otherwise known as Orca, or ladyfingers. i dont like it in a curry sauce, just the bhindi, with some onions, tomatos, oil, and SPICES! mmm :)

Saag and Paluk Paneer are other things I cant get enough of! Saag is a spicy spinach, mustard leaf, and garbanzo bean dish, while paluk paneer is a spicy spinach and cheese!!! MMMM!!!

I love Mutter Paneer! It's a pea and cheese dish, thats very tasty in a curry sauce! Not to mention its PEFFRCCCT  for the season!

Ahhh now for the meat!!!

I LOVELVOELVOELVOEVLEOEVEEE goat curry! there are some at resturants that are not too good, but when it comes to eating the homecooked stuff there is no beating it!!!

I personally believe that chicken tikka masala is just as god! Its tender chicken in a spicy tomato curry!

Tandori chicken is AMAZING as well! I hav no idea how they do it!!! chicken, spices, a tandori oven? Either way its DELISH!!

Chicken kebabs! Whats better than delicious meat and veggies seasoned on a stick?!!?

Ahhhhh!!! last but not least is roti! its SO UNHEALTHY but so good! i liek the whole wheat thin ones :) they are flat pieces of bread, like a tortilla only more puffy with air in the middle, and you use them instead of a fork/spoon.  I LOOOVEE FINGERFOOD!! Additionally, you can eat with onions on the side. I love ontions too :)

My Favorite Indian deserts are Barfi and Luddu!!!! Luddu is AMAZING with chai! Its little balls rolled into one big ball of sweet dough with ALMONDS1 i looove almonds :)Barfi is so hard to describe! its flour and sugar, but melts in your mouth and is creamy! Its delsih either way :)

i hope yall enjoyed this post!!! Have you ever had indian food? What here looks the best? Have you had these before? Hate em or love em??

5 Unique Couples Halloween Ideas!

Ya'll know my lovebug and I are working hard to figure out how we will be dressed to celebrate this year! We dont want to get the "generic" couples costumes that everyone else will have, but dont have time to sew our own elaborate contraptions!!

If you're in the same boat as we are, here are some fun couples ideas that are unique, but can be bought at most halloween stores.

1. Little Red Riding Hood and the Big Bad Wolf!
Kinda generic, but because they are not typically sold together it does work! Aaaannnd you can get this one last munite!

2. Magician and the Rabbit!
If you HAVE to be a bunny this year, why not make the man proud? He can be the magician, and now all you have to do is figure out how he can pull you out of the hat!

3. Police and the Criminal
Again, kinda generic, but better than female/male cop! This could be especially fun if you decided to get creative!

4. Bee and the Beecathcer! This is one of my favorites :) I came up with it, and it can be very appropriate for a children's or family Halloween Party!

5. Cat and the Fish! (Or mouse!) This could be super fun and again, family appropriate!

Are you dressing up with a honeybunny? What are your plans? Any Ideas?
