Feel Good In Your Skin! (Via Facebook)

I found this on facebook, and was compelled to share it! tell me what you think, and remember you are BEAUTIFUL for who YOU are! I personally had a hard time feeling beautiful in my own acneic skin, as many of you know. This is yet another reminder that whoever you are, you are special, you are unique, and you are GORGEOUS!

"A while back, at the entrance of a gym, there was a picture of a very thin and beautiful woman. The caption was "This summer, do you want to be a mermaid or a whale?"

The story goes, a woman (of clothing size unknown) answered the following way:

"Dear people, whales are always surrounded by friends (dolphins, seals, curious humans), they are sexually active and raise their children with great tenderness.
They entertain like crazy with dolphins and eat lots of prawns. They swim all day and travel to fantastic places like Patagonia, the Barents Sea or the coral reefs of Polynesia.
They sing incredibly well and sometimes even are on cds. They are impressive and dearly loved animals, which everyone defend and admires.

Mermaids do not exist.

But if they existed, they would line up to see a psychologist because of a problem of split personality: woman or fish?
They would have no sex life and could not bear children.
Yes, they would be lovely, but lonely and sad.
And, who wants a girl that smells like fish by his side?

Without a doubt, I'd rather be a whale.

At a time when the media tells us that only thin is beautiful, I prefer to eat ice cream with my kids, to have dinner with my husband, to eat and drink and have fun with my friends.

We women, we gain weight because we accumulate so much wisdom and knowledge that there isn't enough space in our heads, and it spreads all over our bodies.
We are not fat, we are greatly cultivated.
Every time I see my curves in the mirror, I tell myself: "How amazing am I ?! "

(The girl on the picture is French model Tara Lynn) Feel free to tag yourselves :)
Last comment: I'm not putting down thin people, being a thin woman myself (BMI of 22 maybe?) just saying that being large doesn't equate to being unattractive. "

  1. Ok... So, the story is nice and true to a point:yes, whales live in groups and mermaids don't exist. I'm not really ok with the "if mermaids existed" part(take for example "The Little Mermaid"-she was happy and loved, had lots of friends etc) but that's not the point.

Whales are genetically made that way, people are not. And mermaids... well, they don't exist. But if they did, at least half of their body would resemble a human's body. And who says there are no fat mermaids??? Also, I know lots of thin people who are happy, but doesn't necessarily have something to do with their weight.

And the last part is just plain stupid. Cultural gain is directly related to body weight? WTF??!!

My point is: I know that media can have a very bad influence over one's self esteem and that it often creates false images of beauty. I know there's nothing wrong with being a little bit... chubby, and that we should learn to accept ourselves, because beauty is not all about being thin. BUT: we also should be able to see things in an objective way. Being very fat is not ok, it's most of the times related to health problems! Doing at least a little bit of sport daily is a MUST for your health! Being happy with yourself the way you are doesn't mean you have to stop improving yourself!

This story is attacking thin people and judging only based on the weight, trying to make fat people feel better about themselves by putting other people down... Not the best way to do that :)

  2. Yeah... sorry for the (very) long comment. I actually just came to see your blog, after finding (and loving!!!) your youtube channel. Obviously, I like the blog too :D
